At Osio Labs, one of our core values is to empower people by creating spaces where growth and exploration are encouraged and knowledge sharing is supported. We view our new mentorship position as an opportunity to do just that. This paid mentorship spans 3 months and provides an opportunity for the mentee to learn the key skills that they’re looking for, along with some that they may not be aware they needed while gaining experience that they can apply in future jobs. As the marketing mentee, the bulk of their work will be centered around creating content and working with social media, along with website copy, SEO, and event sponsorships and promotion. We’re hoping the new mentorship will be a great learning opportunity for everyone involved.
After conducting interviews with applicants from around the world, Osio Labs is happy to introduce the newest member of our team, our new marketing mentee: Chinelo Obigwe! We’re super excited to have her on the team and we’re looking forward to working with her.
We took some time this week to chat with Chinelo and get to know her a bit better. Check out what she had to say below:
Get to know Chinelo
Tell us a bit about yourself. My name is Chinelo Obigwe and I also go by Chi. I’m from Lagos, Nigeria and still currently live there with my family. I’m the middle child of 3, with a younger and older brother and I recently graduated with a degree from Covenant University in Political Science.
What were you up to before accepting the mentorship position with Osio Labs? I was studying web development and also working as a facility manager.
Any previous experience with Drupal? No. I had never even heard of Drupal prior to accepting the role, but I’m open to learning as much as I can while I’m with Osio Labs.
What are you most excited about with this mentorship? I’m most excited to have the opportunity to learn more about the world of web development and what it has to offer especially as I’m starting my new career. Learning more about web development with Osio Labs would give me a softer landing when I get out into the job market.
What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy going out to eat, traveling around Nigeria, and hanging out with my friends. The bulk of my social life involves friends and food.
Name three things you can’t live without. Food, (rice, specifically, is my favorite), my family, and my friends are 3 things that I couldn’t live without. Friends and family are most important to me.
What is your dream vacation destination? Mauritius is my dream destination. It’s a small island off the coast of East Africa and it’s gorgeous. It’s a bit like Fiji but with less tourism. It’s absolutely beautiful. I love that the island doesn’t have much tourism and is perfect for both relaxation and adventure.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Cotton candy, hands down.
We’re thrilled to continue to get to know Chinelo over the coming weeks and to learn and grow together in the process. Welcome to the team, Chi!
